The Blind Side

Hey Kids!

I finally saw The Blind Side. A friend of mine had been wanting to see it for a while so we went. Personally I wasn't interested in seeing this right away (I was gonna wait til video) but since I LOVE LOVE LOVE Sandra Bullock, I decided to give in and go see it. It is actually a good movie. The story of Michael Oher is very touching and is in deed a true heroic and uplifting story. But the movie does bring up several questions though. Why did the family decide to take him home that first night and was it really white quilt? Now for my one reader who may not know the story basically a wealthy family decides to offer shelter to a big (and I mean BIG) teenager who goes to their children's private school. It just so happens that the family is white and the teenager is black. I loved how the actors showed how strong each of the main characters are. Michael (played by Quinton Aaron) is the strong and respectable silent type (he reminds me of myself) and Leigh Ann tuohy (Played by Sandra Bullock) is the strong vocal and FIERCE type. The guy who plays Michael Oher does a decent job of acting, especially for his first major role but I wanted more from him. And if you look at him in this movie and look at a picture of him now it is extremely evident that Hollywood has decided to embrace him and give him a makeover.

The movie is really good, it is well made and flows well. However, educators be warned this will remind of you some of your students. I had a good discussion/argument with my friend (who is not an educator) about the whole white guilt situation. I personally do not think that that was the reason that the Tuohy's decided to extend a helping hand. I know plenty of individuals who are different races than black who would have offered to help in that situation if they could. I myself remember teaching several students who I would have loved to rescued from the streets or their current situations but I couldn't because of finances and fear of losing my job. Now am I saying that myself or some of these other people would do the whole adoption and everything no. I am simply saying that we would offer them a place to stay, clean clothes and a hot meal for at least a day or two while trying to find them suitable accommodations. The reason Michael ended up with this family is because he touched this family (mainly Leigh Ann) and taught them about themselves and from that grew love and affection. I am sure that the real Michael Oher knows how blessed, special or lucky he is to have his situation end the way it did. I am also certain that he is grateful and appreciative of it as well, which has made me a fan of his and I am going to invest in his jersey soon when I get some money (whenever that will be...lol). I could go on and on about this movie and the subject it is about (any truly dedicated, caring and master educator could). But I am going to stop here and just say if you are looking for a nice feel good movie than this is the one for you. I can't say that you have to run out and see this at the theater because you will get the same experience from watching at home on the plasma eating microwave popcorn.

AVATAR

Hey Kids! That's right I'm back...and I am not going to bore you about where I have been and just get straight to the reviewing. Now Avatar has been the movie that a lot of people have been dying to see for the past 2-4 years. It is James Cameron's first movie since Titanic and it has been said that it will change the way movies are made! Now of course hearing all of this I couldn't wait to see this, so I got my IMAX 3D ticket a week in advance and was ready to see if it would live up to the hype...well it...DOES!!! This movie brings a whole new meaning to movie experience! The graphics and use of technology in this movie are unbelievable and is definitely something you need to experience in the theater...Do Not wait till this comes on DVD or BLU RAY run to see this now! And if you can see it in IMAX spend the extra couple dollars to do so, it is well worth it. AND DO NOT see this in 2D...Pay extra and see it how it was meant to be seen. I saw it like two weeks ago and I am dying to go see it again. I have friends who have seen it more than once because they liked it so much! The movie is about the human race trying to do what we love to do best and that is claim something that isn't ours to claim. They are trying to get this mineral that is only found on this planet. It would be nice if they would explained what exactly we are using the mineral for and why it's worth so much money. Guess there wasn't enough time. This movie has everything I love about a movie, action, sci-fi and fantasy, great acting and likeable characters. If you don't end up feeling a strong like or dislike for several of the characters there is something wrong with you...now as far as eye candy goes this is not that kind of movie...I mean the main characters are 12 feet tall, blue and have tails! Although the general did kinda turn me on a couple times with his overly manly and "let's kill any everything that stands in our way" attitude. Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana give great preformances and have wonderful chemistry. I must say that the more movies I see Sam Worthington in the more I like him and the hotter I think he is. And Zoe Saldana has been my female crush since I first saw her in Center Stage when she effortless proved that she was a wonderful actress and dancer. She actually is classically trained dancer and studied at the Dominican Republic Dance Academy for numerous years. She has made two of the best films I have seen this entire year (Avatar and Star Trek) and she will definitely be an even bigger star in the future because of this movie. Please see this movie if you are someone who likes movies and have been missing the reason you fell in love with them to begin with. See this movie if you enjoy a great quality movie. See this movie if you enjoy new experiences. See this movie if you like getting your monies worth when you go to the movies. Also, see this movie so that you will be able to see a technological breakthough. This movie took years to make, a talented director and cast and 300 million (yes that is correct 300 million) dollars to make. It is being dubbed as the movie of the decade, which you all know I have to disagree with because I am a Harry Potter Nut! Those are the best movies this decade (I know that is strictly my opinion and not a fact)! But I reitterate, the movie is GREAT, WORTH SEEING, WELL WORTH THE MONEY and WAY BETTER THAN TITANIC (yes I loved titanic thought it was really romantic and I even cried at the end...but this one is soo much better and more interesting). Get a group of friends together or grab your significant other, go have a nice dinner and see this movie. I promise it will be well worth the effort.

The House on the Left

Hey Kids!

Ok this post is also late and will be short as early mentioned. I AM ON SPRING BREAK BABY!! Ok you remember those WWJD (What would Jesus do)bracelets everyone use to wear? Well while watching this movie all I kept thinking about was WWMD (What would Michael Do). This is a remake of the 1970s or 1980s Wes Craven first directorial movie. He produced the film, so that alone should let you know that it is entertaining at best. This movie was so sick and twisted on so many levels and I LOVED EVERY bit of it. The actors were all really good. I can't really say that much about the movie without telling the actual movie. If you like a good horror movie this is the one for you. I didn't jump from being scared in the movie. I jumped from being either surprised at what was going on in front of my face and from the excitement of anticipating what was gonna happen next. I really felt like I was watching a thriller and not a horror movie. I mean I of course you knew how things were gonna end up but just when you think you know how someone is gonna die they end up dying another way. In my opinion the ending scene is worth the movie ticket price alone. I am not a really big horror movie fan because frankly the past couple years the horror movies I have seen have been dismal at best...lol...but this was really entertaining, exciting, sad and cheerful at the end. Everything a horror movie should be. If you are a fan of horror movies RAN TO SEE THIS MOVIE. If you enjoy a good thriller (like I do) go and see this movie.

Race to Witch Mountain

Hey Kids!

Yes this review is late and guess what...it is also going to be short! I am on spring break and I just don't feel like doing anything (someone please pray that this laziness leaves starting next week). Ok I had to go and support my Husband's new movie (Dwayne Johnson formerly known as The Rock). For those of you who do not know I have been a Dwayne Johnson fan since his days as The ROCK!!! I remember it like it was yesterday. I was coming in from Tennis practice on Monday night and my roommate (college dorm room) was watching Monday night Raw on TV. There was this big beautiful, cocky, confident, delicious man talking really loud and I heard him say "Can you smell what The Rock is cooking?" and he raised one eyebrow. I was in-love! And he has been my play husband ever since. Aren't pretend first encounters the best. Ok I digress.

This movie is a remake of a movie I liked when I was younger. It is right up my ally with the sci-fi/fantasy elements. The acting is good. The story is good. The movie well made. The special effects are great and Dwayne looks good (he looks FINE at the last scene of the movie). And I know I probably sound like a teenage girl with how I speak about Dwayne. If it is scaring you I am sorry. But it is something about him that brings it out of me. In the movie he is a cab driver trying to help two aliens get something that their home planet needs to survive. While driving them he ends up helping them and getting attached to them. Again it is a good story and well made movie. My only problem is that I am sooo ready to see Dwayne get back into some action movies. I want to see him in movies like the scorpion king and my personal Dwayne Johnson favorite "The Rundown" He looked incredible in that movie. Made me want to go out and buy a dodge durango. This is intended for the kid audience. So if you have kids do yourself and them a favor and take them to see this. If you are like me and enjoy a really good sci-fi movie get out and go see this movie. You will not be disappointed.

PS I kinda of enjoyed this movie more than I enjoyed Watchmen...shhh don't tell anyone

Watchmen

Hey Kids!

OK so I saw the highly anticipated WATCHMEN...and I went and saw it at 3:20am Thursday night. I know you are probably wondering what in the hell were you doing at a movie theater at 3:20am in the morning. Well those of you that know I am a night owl (not like the nite owl from the movie) and the 12:01am was already sold out and I was dying to see this in IMAX! I love IMAX and anytime I get to see a movie there I jump at the opportunity. And the show was packed! It was very obvious that the majority of the people there are the true die hard fans. I was trying to get a sense of how they felt about the movie. But it seemed like they were all rushing out of the theater. I figured that they were hurrying because they may have to go to work or something. NO! They were rushing out because they had to go three hours without smoking. So I guess they had reached their limit. It was liking walking through a cloud when I exited the theater. I almost ran into a brush because visibility was extremely low.

This movie takes place in the 1980s in New York City. Apparently it is based on the best selling graphic novel of all time. I am not real big on graphic novels so I had never heard about "Watchmen" before. When I saw the first trailer for this film, I became extremely excited because I love a good superhero movie. WELL I was certainly surprised to find out that the characters (all but one) have no super powers...like at all. But what was so interesting (and a friend helped point this out) that they seemed to be able to beat up EVERYONE! So I will not ruin the movie for you I will just stop there.

This movie had a great story and is well made. I mean what do you expect from the director who made the movie "300". However it would have been a lot cooler if there was more than one super powered character. And he is basically naked the entire movie. I am not complaining about this, just letting you know. As a matter of fact there is a sex scene in the movie that is pretty hot as well. With that scene and the nicely animated meat one of the heroes was packing I left the theater extremely horny and in love with a blue man!

The action is good and gory! There is a nice cast in the film. Patrick Wilson, Jeffery Dean Morgan, Billy Crudup and Jackie Earle Haley being a few. I was so happy to see Jeffery Dean Morgan in this film. Although I wasn't too thrilled with the character he had to play. He seems to look like he has been doing some extra workouts in the weight room. Speaking of weight, Patrick Wilson, who plays Dan (Nite Owl II), gained 25 pounds for his role. He looked amazing to me. However, people who are familiar with the comic have mentioned that he wasn't big enough. The Nite Owl in the comic is suppose to be large and with a gut. He was just nicely solid. He it looked good on him. But then again I love a thick solid man. The women in this movie had very small and insignificant roles in the movie. It seemed to me that they were just there for eye candy and to be used for sex. It sounds very sexist but that is what I picked up. Apparently the author of the graphic novel isn't much of a fan of women. Some comic fans know him to be a British man who doesn't like women. I wonder what kind of sick mess he had to deal with in his childhood.

This is the type of movie that you are either going to like, love or hate it. I liked it and enjoyed watching it. The only reason I would watch it again would be to see my new Blue Man. If you enjoy action movies with a story line and plot this is all for you. If you enjoy watching some get chopped up on screen...again this is all for you! If you can handle a cock being thrown in your face several times throughout the movie..this is all for you...This is most definitely a film made for the fellas, so ladies do yourself a favor and take your man to see this movie. Especially if he took you to see any of the other chick flicks that have been out since the beginning of the year. The best thing about this movie for me (besides the male full frontal and rear nudity) was the fact that there wasn't really a love story. It was there but it didn't consume the movie.

Paul Blart: Mall Cop

Hey Kids!

I must say that I wasn't interested in seeing Paul Blart: Mall Cop at all. I was only a little interested because I think Kevin James is so cute (hold your comments on that)! The only reason I went to go see it was because it has been making so much money! I mean it is a blockbuster (meaning it has made over 100 million in the US alone)!

I really didn't care very much for it. It wasn't even all that funny. The story is simple a mall cop who takes his job too serious ends up working the day the mall gets taking over by high flying, skateboarding, biking young adults. It is up to him to save the day. Kevin does what he does best gets everyone to laugh by poking fun of his weight and falling and running into things. I am not sure why this is a blockbuster. I guess people are in the mood to laugh since the economy is making most people depressed. I can understand that. And they are already getting ready to make a sequel. I just don't understand.

The little girl they had play his mixed (in the movie her mom is Hispanic) was cute. But I think I might have a bit of a problem when it comes to weight. All I kept thinking was she is a cute girl but she is too big. I know that is soo wrong to say because who am I to determine what is big or not. But I guess that is the perception that Hollywood and America has given. Thin is beautiful. If you ask me Thick is Beautiful and fat is not necessarily ugly or unattractive just unhealthy.

I can't recommend people to see this. If you like Kevin James maybe...but I much preferred him in I now Pronounce you Chuck and Larry and Hitch and King of Queens.

~Verdict~

Two snaps down and Kevin you can protect and serve me any day!

Street Fighter: Legend of Chun Li

Hey Kids!

I know this blog is like a week late but I have been so busy. But I am back. Now I wasn't that thrilled about going to see this movie. However, I was looking forward to seeing how it would turn out. Honestly it isn't as bad as I thought it would be. It is by no means oscar worthy or even date night worthy but it was not that bad. There were parts that were just TERRIBLE like when Cantana and Chun Li do the whole lesbian subduction...HATED IT!!! Some of the actions scenes are pretty good. I was surprised with the choice of Kristen Kruek as Chun Li. She is of Dutch (father) and Chinese (mother) descent like our heroine. However, I just felt like she was not tough enough for the part. If you are unfamiliar with her, she plays Lana on Smallville series. She is a great actress (so of course the acting on her part was good) but as far as having the Chun Li look and fighting skills (she didn't have the Li Thighs and there was no lighting kicks) she was seriously lacking. There was one scene that she did look absolutely gorgeous though...but sadly it was her mother's funeral scene.

The other stars in the movie are the hunky Michael Clarke Duncan as Balrog, Robin Shou as Gen, and Neal McDonough as a very hot M. Bison. Umm I am loosing my breath just thinking about those pieces of eye candy.

If you saw the first street fighter movie you will be a lot more pleased with this one. The first one in my opinion tried too hard to include all of the characters of street fighter. This one focuses on one and that is Chun Li. Gen played by Robin Shou (Liu Kang from the Mortal Kombat movies). He kicks ass like usual and still keeps a mysterious presence. I would like to see him in some better high budget action films like the Mortal Kombat films again. Just with better acting. This one had the acting and had the plot and story. It was just poorly made. And what the hell is up with Vega being an Asian man. He is and will always be spanish (a hot spaniard at that). Chris Klien (American Pie 1 and 2) is also in this movie as Charlie Nash. Why he was choosing for such a terrible part is beyond me. He is absolutely AWFUL in this movie. When and if Katie sees this movie (that's Katie Holmes) she will look at Tom and then look at Chris on screen and say to herself "Yep I definitely made the better choice!" And I guess Hollywood figures that no action (guy film) film is complete without some girl on girl action. So they had Chun Li act as a lesbian to seduce information from Cantana played by Josie Ho. Cantana is Bison's badass assistant who happens to like girls. Now this is Josie Ho's first Hollywood movie. She is pretty and a descent enough actress. My bone to pick with her is that she is one of Forbe magazines top 10 billionaire heiresses. Bitch what the HELL are you doing making movies and working. You should be getting somewhere and sitting it DOWN! If that I were an heiress (and yes I meant to say HEIRESS) I would sit it down! I wouldn't do anything. The only hard thing I would do is to check and see what and how much I would be inheriting. And learn the family business and make sure I have the education to prepare me to run things when my parents stepped down. She is a damn fool. Her dad is like one of the richest men in Hong Kong and that is saying a whole LOT!!!!

OK I am back. If you like the street fighter franchise and are a fan of the video game. Then go and support this movie. If you like these actors go and support this film. If you are looking for a good movie that is well made DO NOT go see this movie. A buddy of mine who saw this said it best. "It looks like they had a great idea for this movie but made it in one day right after they thought about it".

Fired Up

Hey Kids!

I will admit this week at theaters was slim pickens. Only one of the two movies that came out I was remotely interested in seeing was Fired Up. Now if you know me you know that I LLLLLOOOOOVVVEEEE the sport of cheerleading! Yes I said the sport! This movie was cute for what it was. It is about two little white boys who are football stars in their state and school and they have a reputation for being very good with the ladies. They decide to go to cheerleading camp instead of football camp to score as much cheer poo as they can. This movie is definitely for the teen audience. It is rated PG-13 and is made for that age group. College kids would enjoy this movie as well. But more so for middle and high school kids. Although it doesn't really send a good message out. The two main stars in the movie Nicholas D'Agosto, I recognized him from Heroes as Clair's love interest who could fly and Eric Christian Olsen, are cute enough for their roles but I was absolutely outraged by the fact that they are suppose to be football stars in their state! They are entirely too small at the positions that they play to be able to create any kind of stardom no matter how talented you are. Football is a mental game but it is also a physical game (My information comes from 13 years of hard experience!) and with a 150 pound quarterback and receiver you can bet that those two are not gonna be dominating the field in the state of Illinois. This was evident when they were having a scrimmage in the beginning of the movie and one of them tried to knock over another, much larger defender. I also had a hard time believing them to be the only two male cheerleaders on the squad. Yes they had nice tight toned bodies. But they did not come across as athletic to me. If this were in fact a true situation they would be tumblers on the squad and possibly back spots with female bases. There is no way that they would be able to left a girl in a single base extension. I did like the fact that they displayed during the scrimmage, before the movie got into the cheerleading aspect, that they did in fact know how to tumble. This movie kind of like a mixture of Bring it On and American Pie Band Camp! Now if you go expecting it to be even close to Bring it On you will be disappointed (I knew better as the other 3 Bring it Ons have sorely disappointed me). It seemed at some points the writers created their own cheer language. The extras in the movie that were playing cheerleaders at the camp where in fact the real deal. They looked, walked, and acted like real cheerleaders. They were athletic and healthy looking and I was soo happy for that because body image is starting to become a more serious and dangerous issue among teenage girls and especially girls who are cheerleaders. I did appreciate that. However there is one part in the first couple seconds of them arriving at camp that bugged me. The main thing that pissed me off about this movie was the cookie cutter routines that the choreographer came up with for the different squads. I know the main squad is suppose to be worse than the everyone else at camp but their routine was very basic and middle schoolish to me. And they tried too hard to make the best team stand out that they made mistakes and incorporated illegal stunts and tumbling for high school squads! I know it is just a movie and that is why they did it. But I need them to know that an inexperienced squad, that is lacking the proper coaching and guidance is probably going to try some of those moves and will either be eliminated from competition or worse someone will get hurt. Ok sorry I kind of tapped back into my old cheer coaching days. This is a cute movie and if you like cheerleading, go see it but if you are knowledgeable about cheerleading don't expect too much.

Two thumbs up and I'm a COCKY BITCH!!!

The International

Hey Kids!

I saw the international with the handsome Clive Owen and Naomi Watts this past Friday. This movie was a little too...you know I can't think of how to describe it. It had a plot and there was action (not enough action). The best part of the movie is that there was no love interest and all that crap that can make a good action movie sour at times. Naomi Watts' character is married in the movie and Clive is too busy trying to find out what is going on to be concerned with a woman. The setting of the movie is in several different countries. I liked that and the shots were descent enough. At some parts they could of added action scenes to make it better. I just had high hopes for this movie as I am a fan of both of these actors. And I am not sure what Naomi Watts was doing in this movie. Like Ryan and Caroline (www.weseemovies.com) said "they could of had someone else play her part". I mean they could of given that role to a less known actress. She was barely in the movie.

Clive was great. And he looked good too. This is a movie for the mature audience. The movie theater was packed on opening night and their was definitely a mature audience in the house. I would suggest to see this movie only if you are not interested in seeing anything else that is currently new. I feel very indifferent about this movie. I didn't hate it or love it. If you like Clive and looking at him on the big screen go see this. If you are a fan of Naomi than you may be a little disappointed because like I said she is not in the film that often.

~Verdict~

One Quick Snap from east to west and tell Clive to call me (phone call signal)!

Confessions of a Shopaholic

Hey Kids!

This weekend did not really impress me at the box office. I was looking forward to seeing Confessions of a Shopaholic (COFAS) but there was something that led me to believe this was not a movie for the mature and grown. The THEATER WAS FULL OF CHILDREN! Yep, little girls ranging from 5th grade to 12th grade. I had to sit there and listen to them laugh and giggle with all their friends. It was terrible. I would definitely wait to all the hype is gone before going to a theater to see this movie. Unless you don't made being surrounded by loud talkative giggly little girls. There mom's looked so happy to see them so happy and not bothering them that they just had looks of relief on their faces.

COFAS did not give me what I wanted as a movie. I wanted more costumes, more couture, more sassiness, more guys, more girls, JUST MORE! It was rated PG (that should of been a warning right there). Don't get me wrong I am not saying that it wasn't cute. It was probably a little too cute for my taste.

The movie stars Isla Fisher, many of you may remember her from Wedding Crashers. She was the one who freakishly seduced Vince Vaughn. And those of you know I love me some Vince! The movie takes place in Manhattan (where else would an American girl develop such a crazy shopping obsessing). It doesn't really show a lot of great shots of Manhattan. But still it is Manhattan! I was very happy to see Leslie Bibb again. She had a small but good part in "Iron Man" as the reporter who sleeps with Tony spark in the beginning of the movie. She has a more involved part in this movie and I loved her in this. I want to see her play more roles like she plays in this movie. She was great and Looked FABULOUS!!!!

The male lead, Hugh Dancy, you may remember him in "Ella Enchanted" and "Blood and Chocolate" does a good job in his role. He is also very cute. And there is something about when a man can "speak Prada" that does something to me on the inside!! HAHA! I can't say that I would recommend for you to go out and get friends together to see this movie at theaters. It would be something cute to rent. And if you don't mind being in the theater with a bunch of kids have at it. Just don't expect it to resemble "Sex and the City" or "The Devil wears Prada" when it comes to the fashion and drama.

~Verdict~

One snap up and One snap down and a Bitch give me back my CREDIT CARDS!!!

He's Just Not That Into You

Hey Kids!!!

OK I just saw the movie He's Just Not That Into You (HJNTIY). And I must say that I enjoyed every minute of it. It is definitely one of those films that you want to go and watch with a bunch of your good friends. This is definitely a chick flick, so that means the target audience are women and gay men. I find it very interesting and a tad bit insulting that Hollywood has started to understand that when you add some queens into your chick flicks you make more money on them. But hey it is the truth. I mean the only men in the audience tonight were of course my awesome self, some other gay men hanging with their female friends and the straight guys that so obviously didn't want to be there watching this movie. And who knows what their little lady promised them for taking them. Sometimes fellas you have to take one for the team. What I did like is that the guys seemed to be very affectionate towards their gals after the movie was over with. It wasn't the gross hands all over them sort of thing, just the holding hands and gentlemen way of letting others know that she is off limits.

The movie takes place in Baltimore, MD. I wasn't all that impressed with the shots (or lack there of) that were taking of B'More. I expected "More" lol. There is an all star cast. I am not going to name all of them if you want to know, just look at the top of this post at the first picture and it has all the names listed. I will mention a few I was impressed with though. I was happy to see Wilson Cruz (mostly known in "The Community" as Dr. Jenito in the Noah's Arc series) had a small but noticeable role in the movie. He and about two other guys act as Drew Barrymore's co-workers and friends. I think it is so interesting that Drew is an advertising rep for the Baltimore gay newspaper called "Blade". The real paper is called "Baltimore Gay Life".

There are so many different parts that I think a lot of people can relate to in this movie. The star is Ginnifer Goodwin from HBO's "Big Love" fame. She does a pretty decent job considering that she is in a movie with all of these more famous actors. Her Character name is GiGi and she needs to get a clue. She continues to throw herself out there to get rejected and it just seems like she wants more rejections. You actually feel sorry for her at some points in the movie. She becomes friends with Justin Long's character and asks him advice about men's different lines and games she thinks we play. I must say the more movies I see with Justin Long in them, the more of a fan I am becoming of his. He had the funniest lines and scenes in "Zach and Miri Make a Porno". And he is cute in this role and film as well. The Jennifers (Aniston and Connolly) are great like usual. I also realized how much of a fan I am of Jennifer Connolly's. She was great in this movie (like all her movies) and she had the most dramatic scenes to play. She is married to the Ultra HOT Bradley Cooper in the movie. Mr Favorite line in the movie "He has an ass so hot that it makes me want to dry hump!" is referenced to Bradley's character. Scarlett Johansson is in this film too. I have really never understood all the hype about her. I guess you have to be straight to see it. She does actually look pretty great in this movie and I didn't realize that she is so curvy. It works well for her.

The hottest couple in the movie is definitely Jennifer Aniston and my Husband...I mean Ben Affleck. Now those of you that know me know that I have such a HUGE crush on Ben Affleck. I still remember the day I came back from Hong Kong and found out that he had started dating Jennifer Lopez while I was over seas. I was so pissed!! But of course I forgave him because that is what you do when you are in love! And even though most of the movies he has starred in have been terrible I still go and see them all...that is called real love and support people...lol...His character doesn't believe in marriage. He has been seriously dating Jenn's character for 7 years without a marriage proposal. How do you feel about that? I will say that him and Jenn's last scene together had me a little teary eyed. Probably because I was pretending that what he was saying to Jennifer he was saying to me. Yes, chick flicks bring out the girl in me (I am not ashamed to admit that...LOL)! If you love a good romantic film I would definitely recommend that you go see this movie. If you love a good film to go see with your friends so you will have something to talk about before, during and after the movie...GO SEE THIS MOVIE. Push

Hey Kids!

I just saw "Push" a new movie that is definitely for the x-men fan crowd. It stars the hot Chris Evans and deliciously sexy Djimon Hounson and little Dakota Fanning, who is growing up on us. Now I don't know about you but I love movies like this. I am all for supernatural type films. When I first saw the trailer for this I was so excited to see it. Unfortunately it was a little bit of a let down. I walked away from the movie thinking "that could have been way better then what it was".

The setting of the film takes place in one of my favorite cities...Hong Kong. The shots of the city are wonderful. You might as well call Hong Kong one of the stars of the movie. Hong Kong, I miss it so much. It is such a wonderful place. This movie reminded me of just how much I miss being there. I need to plan a return trip soon to visit my foreign home.

The acting was OK. Little Dakota is starting to come into her own. I mean she had like 100 movies come out in the past two years. Like Caroline from weseemovies.com said "I wish she would give me like 7% of her money". And FYI little Dakota is now in High School and a public school at that. She is a cheerleader for the school. Where she finds the time to make all those movies, cheer and just be a high school kid is beyond me. But hey at least she is trying to have some kind of normalcy in her life. I mean let's face it, she will be famous for the rest of her life. Even if she doesn't make another movie. Chris Evans, who is one of my favorite actors (I have been a fan ever since I saw him in Not Another Teen Movie in his whip cream sundae suit. And he is even hotter in the Fantastic Four movies), does a decent job as Nick the star of the movie. He and Dakota's characters are second generation special skilled humans. Chris is called a mover, he basically has telekinetic powers. Dakota is called a Watcher, she can see the future. They are trying to rescue this girl (who turns out to be Nick's love interest) and get a case that has some drug that enhances powers. They are being chased by Djimon Hounson's character who is a Pusher, he has telepathic powers. Now if you have seen Djimon in Amistad you know that he can "Push" me anytime!
He is the head in some government agency, called the Division (it is always our government that is behind something). He is accompanied or basically protected by Victor (Neil Jackson) who is a mover and in my opinion the only bad ass in the entire movie. I mean the man was stopping bullets with his power and throwing people at the same time! They have other abilities introduced in the movie. Like wipers, they can erase your memories. Screamers, they can burst your blood vessels and scatter stuff by yelling, YES THEY GOT ON MY LAST NERVES IN THE MOVIE. There are sniffers, who have enhanced tracking powers. Stitches, who are healers. And Shifters, they can transform the appearance of things. The incredibly handsome Cliff Curtis plays a shifter in the movie. I just kept thinking about the fun we would have if his character was real.

This movie reminded me of the first X-Men movie. I wanted so much to happen in the film that didn't. Like X-Men, it was introducing the characters and not allowing them to show their full potential, so that the sequel would be more appealing. I didn't really care for the first X-Men movie. Yeah I went and fought someone for free passes to see the screening. Yes during the screening they gave out t-shirts and I almost fall from the top row trying to catch a shirt (yes I got my shirt and still wear it to bed sometimes). But that is what I will do for a franchise that I absolutely love and have learned so much from (I hate to think of the depths I would sink to or the things I would do for the Harry Potter franchise). Push had some action scenes and did an OK job of introducing characters into the story line. But that seems like that is the only thing it was concerned about. The movie was very slow and drawn out and I think it could of cut probably 20 minutes of it to make it a lot better. Another similarity this film has to X-men is that it will probably have a kick ass sequel. The difference is that X-Men II:X-Men United was definitely going to happen because critics and most fans loved the first film. Push has not seem the same generosity from the critics. They have actually been tearing it up. But as we all know the box office is what determines sequels. I do hope they make one just so that I can see this movie reach its potential. Am I going to advise you to see this film? No not at all. Wait til it comes out on DVD! But if you like this type of genre then by all means go and support it.

Two Snaps Down and a Congratulations to Djimon and Kimora Lee on expecting their first child together!

New in Town

HEY KIDS!!!

This review will be very short and to the point. This movie sucked ass! I was so disappointed. I actually like a good, city girl trying to make it out in the middle of nowhere movie. This was very disappointing. It stars Renee Zellweger as the lead who is some big executive and gets a chance to get promoted by improving things up in Minnesota! Renee had cute shoes and a fierce bob (you all know I love a good bob) but that is it. She looked weird and uncomfortable at times. The other star in the movie and the best part of the movie is Harry Connick, Jr. (Dr. Leo Markus from Will and Grace).

Harry played the role of a firemen who also happens to be a union worker. He wears a rough looking beard the majority of the movie but it still works for him (in my opinion). He of course plays his part well. However, Renee and Him have no chemistry through out this movie. It is so sad!

Lastly what seemed to bother me the most is that Renee was not tough and sassy enough for the role she was playing. She was suppose to be someone like Miranda (Meryl Streep's character in Devil wears prada) going to the middle of nowhere and turning things around. And she fails miserably. Do not waste your time or money on this film. Don't even rent it!

(This doesn't deserve the energy it would take for me to snap down)

The Uninvited

HEY KIDS!

"I LOVE YOU AND I HAVE A CONDOM." That is the first line in the movie. And just like that line this movie was A HOT MESS!

I must admit, I was NOT AT ALL interested in seeing this movie. The only reason I went to see it was to satisfy my curiosity about the incredible surprise ending. I mean every where I turned I was hearing about this ending. So I had to go and check it out for myself.

This film stars Elizabeth Banks (Role Models, W. and Zach and Miri Make a Porno) as the "evil" new girlfriend. Emily Browning (Violet in Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events) as the main character of the movie (in other words her big break), Arielle Kebbel (John Tucker Must Die, American Pie's Band Camp, Soul Plane) as big sister Alex, and Oscar nominated actor David Strathairn (Good Night and Good Luck) stars as Stephen the father who is grieving the loss of his sick wife by fondling a much younger women (who also happened to be his wife's personal nurse before she died) I know what you are thinking and I have no idea why he is in this movie either.

The movie takes place in a beautiful and picturesque town in Maine. The lake house alone that the majority of the movie takes place in is absolutely gorgeous. And the scenery and shots of the lake community is nothing short of Breathtaking!

Of course this is suppose to be scary, suspense filled and it attempts to be. But it fails miserably. The acting was decent but that is really all of that I have to say about this movie. I would not recommend going to pay to see this movie. Wait til it comes out on DVD if you are really that interested in knowing what happens at the end (and it is a definite shocker, I was NOT READY!). But once you have seen all the movies that this tries to live up to you have seen them all.

Two snaps DOWN and a NO MA'AM for the ending!
