I Am Number Four

Hey Kids!

I know this review is late but I had to write one anyway. I really want you all to get out and go see I am Number Four!

This movie is about an alien who is 1 out 9 survivors from his home planet that is living on Earth. He's given the name John and has a guardian who takes care of him and helps protect him. He doesn't fully know why he just knows that he isn't human and that he is from another planet. Well the only way that he can die is to be killed in the sequence that he was born. He was born 4th. Numbers 1, 2 and 3 have already been killed. The movie is about number four learning about who he is, what he's capable of and why he was sent to Earth in the first place.

This movie is a must see. It was a breath of fresh air when I saw it back in February.

This movie is directed by the same person who brought us "Eagle Eye" and "Disturbia"...Which kinda of led me to wonder why Shia Lebouf wasn't cast as John. I guess he wasn't cute enough for the casting director. It stars the very handsome Timothy Olyphant as Henri, John's guardian. John is played by Alex Pettyfer. And apparently he has turned into quite the diva. I tell you these youngins today getting all big in their britches (a saying the old folk say down here in the south) and haven't earned the right yet. John's love interest is Glee star Dianna Agron. She's such a pretty girl and I loved seeing her on the big screen and I think she will get more time on there in the near future. Glee better watch out! Now to me the breakout star in this movie is Teresa Palmer who plays number 6. She was outstanding and bad ass! I love it when a chick comes out of no where and gives the best fight scenes and moves. However, this Australian actor has been in such notable films like The Scorer's Apprentice, Bedtime Stories, and Take Me Home Tonight. She was great in this movie and one of the reasons I really want to see a sequel.

Now I know this review is short and that is mainly because I saw the movie more than a month ago and can't remember all of the enlightening things I wanted to say about it. I forgot why I didn't get that review out sooner. I must of been busy being AWESOME (smile)!

But please all my sci-fi geeks out there go out and see this movie! You will not be disappointed.

Two snaps way up and I want one of those swords!

Limitless

Hey Kids!

Michael: I have a very special guest returning for today's review and it is none other than Lou Diamond Phillips...LOL...ok its my good buddy Jorge! (why do I think you got more applause than when they thought it was Lou Diamond)...lol...say hello Jorge.

Jorge: Yeah sorry to dissapoint folks, but the real Louie D couldnt make it out tonight....he sent me as his stand in and said he doesnt do anything "Z-List". :D lol j/k. HELLO EVERYBODY! So glad to be back, special Thank You to Michael for allowing me to do this once again....okay enough of my acceptance speech!.....let's talk "Limitless"!

Michael: I am going to ignore that Z list comment Jorge only because I love you like a step brother! Now Limitless is the new film that stars Robert De Niro and the H-O-T Bradley Cooper. But I must warn everyone the first part of the movie is very grusome. I remember thinking OMG OMG it's just sooo wrong...so scary...heaven forbid it HEAVEN forbid it! They made bradley look a HOT MESS!! In the beginning of the film he doesn't look his best so be prepared for that ladies. Now this movie is about a man who stumbles across this new drug that allows you to use all 100% of your brain. And it is about what Bradley Cooper's character goes through while he uses it. It takes us on a ride basically and we get to see all the good that comes with using the drug and all the bad as well. I thought all the acting was well done even with the Russian drug dealer/loan shark/ body guard decapitator (whatever his day job was suppose to be). What you think Jorge? I know you enjoyed that cherry ICEE some nice handsome gentlemen bought you.

Jorge: Yes I did, (I love ICEE's btw!.....and I gladly paid him for it after the movie? #HeMustOfBeenSenile). The real meat and potatoes of this film isn't Bradley's (Eddie) package or bad hair....its in the acting and storyline. I found the concept to be unique and very original, as it opened the doors to an endless amount of possibilities. I never knew what challenges Eddie would take on next, It was exciting seeing him explore this new world of opportunity. With the pills given potential, Eddie uses its ability to absorb large amounts of information. That information gives him the knowledge to formulate statistics which make him very wealthy very quickly. I think The Notorious B.I.G. said it best with "Mo Money Mo Problems".....as Eddie soon finds himself in a world of trouble and begins to question what the potential side effects from the drug are. Robert De Niro (Carl Van Loon) is also in this film, but his role, while less prominate....is still acted out very well. Clearly Robert takes a backseat to Bradley who shines as the lead here. I found Coopers performance both believable and well executed. This may be his first staring role, but I'm very certain it wont be his last. Anyway throw in a few twist and turns, accompanied by some "ah ha" moments....and this film sends you on a great ride. I know I left the theather wondering what I would do if I had that type of brain power? Michael what would you do with all that headgame? :)

Michael: I bet you did pay him back...but was it in the form of money? LOL...anywho to answer your question if I had a pill like that I could quite honestly say...I WOULD RULE THE WORLD!!! I mean if I could take a pill that allowed me to recall everything that I ever came in contact with via, talking, listening, reading or seeing and then with the added effect of being able to grasp new concepts and logic with super speed and accuracy, there would be no contest. But the big thing that the pill does that neither one of us has commented on is that by consuming it and gaining all this new found brain power boosts your confidence, which in term gives you the power over your self to master the ability to articulate probably what you know and want to say. That's something that was acted out very well by Mr. Cooper. He showed you how well he could articulate his points and knowledge so that people understood and not just talking a bunch of nonsense over people's heads!

Michael: But if I may digress for a bit I kinda of felt like one part of the movie when Carl Van Loon, played by the great Robert De Niro, was putting Bradley Cooper's character in his place...seemed like at one point he conjured an old bitter queen! And I LIVED for that part!

Jorge: yeah he did throw his sash around one last time. "I never forgot who you were girl!" Overall good film download/dollar movie/rent it! Michael: Umm Jorge it's still out in theaters so they can go pay to see it like good law abiding citizens should...But Yes, good movie. I definitely recommend it. However, do not be surprised if you leave the theater looking for some of those pills! ~Verdict~ Two snaps up and GIVE ME SOME OF THOSE PILLS!

Red Riding Hood

Hey Kids!

So I was dragged to see Red Riding Hood because my "Special Friend" J (that's what I will refer to him as on here) wanted to see it during our date night. So since we usually go see what I want to see I decided I would let him have his pick. The last time he wanted to go see a movie and felt strangely about his choice was to see Tyler Perry's Colored Girls and I REFUSED!!!! So Red Riding Hood was a little better than I expected it to be. Please keep in mind I went into the film with Low expectations and was pleasantly surprised to be proving wrong. The movie is about a village that is being tormented by a werewolf and for some reason "Red Riding Hood" (played by Amanda Seyfried) has attracted the attraction of the beast and the towns people. So the town's people can't seem to get rid of it on their own so here comes a "Priest" (played by Gary Oldman) to help them. In the midst of all this there is love, lust, arranged marriages, children born out of wedlock, killings in the name of God and "Witchcraft". And its all directed by Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke.

Now there is a lot of talk that this movie looks a lot like Twilight and feels like as well. I disagreed with this up until the werewolf was shown for the first time. Mrs. Hardwicke didn't even attempt to bring a new and unique looking werewolf to this movie. The wolf in the film looked just like Sam (when he's in wolf form) from the Twilight movies, Big, Black and cuddly! She had an opportunity to impress and she failed! Kinda of like she did with the first Twilight movie. But I understand she was working with a low budget (if you can call 40 million budgets low...lol)

Ok first let me talk about the two male love interests of the movie, played by Shiloh Fernandez and Max Irons. Now these are two cute guys nothing to get all extra excited about. They need some acting lessons though but it's ok they have time to get it right for their next movie. Max Irons is the nephew of Jeremy Irons and there is a little family resemblance. Hmm, I wonder how he got that roll.

Amanda does a good job as always. But I'm tired of her looking so love sick and longing to be loved (in other words HOMELY). It's time for her to glam it up in her next role and stretch those acting chops! Of course for me the star in this movie was Gary Oldman. He was a scene stealer and made the movie so much more interesting when he finally came on screen. And the fact that he was protected by to big buff black guys made his character all the more interesting. It's always so interesting to me that there are so many characters that play "priests or preachers" back in the medieval days and they are escorted by Big Hunky Men. Umm huh YEAH!

This movie was way better than I expected. If you have low expectations going in you will enjoy it. One thing that made it better for me was the mystery behind who the wolf was in human form. I guessed right at first but as the movie went on I ended up changing my guess and so I was wrong but my first guess was right.

See this movie if you are in the mood for yet another werewolf movie, like Gary Oldman as an actor or if someone drags you there like what happened with me.

~Verdict~

Two snaps up and give me the number to Virginia Madsen's Plastic Surgeon!

Battle: LA

Hey Kids!

I'm BACK!!!! Yes I know it has been a minute but let's not waste time wondering where I've been...let's get right into this new movie. So I went with some of my dear friends to see the Battle: LA and I must say two out of the three of us enjoyed it. It's definitely one of those movies that will be hit or miss. You will either like it or not. I personally appreciated it for what it was...an action movie about killing aliens. I mean that's really all there is to say about what it's about. There wasn't really a plot or story line...the aliens arrived and the military men started shooting to kill. The movie was kinda of like independence day and the video game Doom got together and had a baby. It was probably like 20-30 minutes too long because at one point I was ready to go because I thought the movie had ended and it started right up again.

The cast was good. It stars Aaron Eckhart as the main character trying to lead everyone to victory! Michelle Rodriguez was in it as well. And I was pleasantly surprised to see Jim Parrack, who plays Hoyt Fortenberry in HBO's TrueBlood. I am glad that he is starting to get some work outside of TrueBlood. Maybe I should say some mainstream work. He is one of my favorites on the show and he is so tall and handsome in his army fatigues. Now someone that I was not happy to see in this movie was Ne-Yo! Now please don't get me wrong I love me some Ne-Yo! His album "Year of the Gentleman" helped me through a tough time in my life. And ever since I saw a certain picture of him several years ago I've been a fan every since! But why he wanted to act I have no idea but he is NOT a natural! And only the Lord knows why he had on these big glasses throughout the movie. They made him look a mess! Ne-Yo if you happen to come across this blog or if a friend of yours does, please burn those glasses, never put them on again and either stick with just writing hit songs or get an acting coach ASAP!

This movie is not for those that like to have a plot and story line with their movies in order for it to be considered a good one. It's for those that just want to see some non-stop action (well shooting) with over all decent acting. I would put this in the category of a man's man movie!

~Verdict~

One snap up and Michelle I want to see you play a roll where your not holding a gun!
