Fired Up

Hey Kids!

I will admit this week at theaters was slim pickens. Only one of the two movies that came out I was remotely interested in seeing was Fired Up. Now if you know me you know that I LLLLLOOOOOVVVEEEE the sport of cheerleading! Yes I said the sport! This movie was cute for what it was. It is about two little white boys who are football stars in their state and school and they have a reputation for being very good with the ladies. They decide to go to cheerleading camp instead of football camp to score as much cheer poo as they can. This movie is definitely for the teen audience. It is rated PG-13 and is made for that age group. College kids would enjoy this movie as well. But more so for middle and high school kids. Although it doesn't really send a good message out. The two main stars in the movie Nicholas D'Agosto, I recognized him from Heroes as Clair's love interest who could fly and Eric Christian Olsen, are cute enough for their roles but I was absolutely outraged by the fact that they are suppose to be football stars in their state! They are entirely too small at the positions that they play to be able to create any kind of stardom no matter how talented you are. Football is a mental game but it is also a physical game (My information comes from 13 years of hard experience!) and with a 150 pound quarterback and receiver you can bet that those two are not gonna be dominating the field in the state of Illinois. This was evident when they were having a scrimmage in the beginning of the movie and one of them tried to knock over another, much larger defender. I also had a hard time believing them to be the only two male cheerleaders on the squad. Yes they had nice tight toned bodies. But they did not come across as athletic to me. If this were in fact a true situation they would be tumblers on the squad and possibly back spots with female bases. There is no way that they would be able to left a girl in a single base extension. I did like the fact that they displayed during the scrimmage, before the movie got into the cheerleading aspect, that they did in fact know how to tumble. This movie kind of like a mixture of Bring it On and American Pie Band Camp! Now if you go expecting it to be even close to Bring it On you will be disappointed (I knew better as the other 3 Bring it Ons have sorely disappointed me). It seemed at some points the writers created their own cheer language. The extras in the movie that were playing cheerleaders at the camp where in fact the real deal. They looked, walked, and acted like real cheerleaders. They were athletic and healthy looking and I was soo happy for that because body image is starting to become a more serious and dangerous issue among teenage girls and especially girls who are cheerleaders. I did appreciate that. However there is one part in the first couple seconds of them arriving at camp that bugged me. The main thing that pissed me off about this movie was the cookie cutter routines that the choreographer came up with for the different squads. I know the main squad is suppose to be worse than the everyone else at camp but their routine was very basic and middle schoolish to me. And they tried too hard to make the best team stand out that they made mistakes and incorporated illegal stunts and tumbling for high school squads! I know it is just a movie and that is why they did it. But I need them to know that an inexperienced squad, that is lacking the proper coaching and guidance is probably going to try some of those moves and will either be eliminated from competition or worse someone will get hurt. Ok sorry I kind of tapped back into my old cheer coaching days. This is a cute movie and if you like cheerleading, go see it but if you are knowledgeable about cheerleading don't expect too much.

Two thumbs up and I'm a COCKY BITCH!!!

The International

Hey Kids!

I saw the international with the handsome Clive Owen and Naomi Watts this past Friday. This movie was a little too...you know I can't think of how to describe it. It had a plot and there was action (not enough action). The best part of the movie is that there was no love interest and all that crap that can make a good action movie sour at times. Naomi Watts' character is married in the movie and Clive is too busy trying to find out what is going on to be concerned with a woman. The setting of the movie is in several different countries. I liked that and the shots were descent enough. At some parts they could of added action scenes to make it better. I just had high hopes for this movie as I am a fan of both of these actors. And I am not sure what Naomi Watts was doing in this movie. Like Ryan and Caroline (www.weseemovies.com) said "they could of had someone else play her part". I mean they could of given that role to a less known actress. She was barely in the movie.

Clive was great. And he looked good too. This is a movie for the mature audience. The movie theater was packed on opening night and their was definitely a mature audience in the house. I would suggest to see this movie only if you are not interested in seeing anything else that is currently new. I feel very indifferent about this movie. I didn't hate it or love it. If you like Clive and looking at him on the big screen go see this. If you are a fan of Naomi than you may be a little disappointed because like I said she is not in the film that often.

~Verdict~

One Quick Snap from east to west and tell Clive to call me (phone call signal)!

Confessions of a Shopaholic

Hey Kids!

This weekend did not really impress me at the box office. I was looking forward to seeing Confessions of a Shopaholic (COFAS) but there was something that led me to believe this was not a movie for the mature and grown. The THEATER WAS FULL OF CHILDREN! Yep, little girls ranging from 5th grade to 12th grade. I had to sit there and listen to them laugh and giggle with all their friends. It was terrible. I would definitely wait to all the hype is gone before going to a theater to see this movie. Unless you don't made being surrounded by loud talkative giggly little girls. There mom's looked so happy to see them so happy and not bothering them that they just had looks of relief on their faces.

COFAS did not give me what I wanted as a movie. I wanted more costumes, more couture, more sassiness, more guys, more girls, JUST MORE! It was rated PG (that should of been a warning right there). Don't get me wrong I am not saying that it wasn't cute. It was probably a little too cute for my taste.

The movie stars Isla Fisher, many of you may remember her from Wedding Crashers. She was the one who freakishly seduced Vince Vaughn. And those of you know I love me some Vince! The movie takes place in Manhattan (where else would an American girl develop such a crazy shopping obsessing). It doesn't really show a lot of great shots of Manhattan. But still it is Manhattan! I was very happy to see Leslie Bibb again. She had a small but good part in "Iron Man" as the reporter who sleeps with Tony spark in the beginning of the movie. She has a more involved part in this movie and I loved her in this. I want to see her play more roles like she plays in this movie. She was great and Looked FABULOUS!!!!

The male lead, Hugh Dancy, you may remember him in "Ella Enchanted" and "Blood and Chocolate" does a good job in his role. He is also very cute. And there is something about when a man can "speak Prada" that does something to me on the inside!! HAHA! I can't say that I would recommend for you to go out and get friends together to see this movie at theaters. It would be something cute to rent. And if you don't mind being in the theater with a bunch of kids have at it. Just don't expect it to resemble "Sex and the City" or "The Devil wears Prada" when it comes to the fashion and drama.

One snap up and One snap down and a Bitch give me back my CREDIT CARDS!!!

He's Just Not That Into You

Hey Kids!!!

OK I just saw the movie He's Just Not That Into You (HJNTIY). And I must say that I enjoyed every minute of it. It is definitely one of those films that you want to go and watch with a bunch of your good friends. This is definitely a chick flick, so that means the target audience are women and gay men. I find it very interesting and a tad bit insulting that Hollywood has started to understand that when you add some queens into your chick flicks you make more money on them. But hey it is the truth. I mean the only men in the audience tonight were of course my awesome self, some other gay men hanging with their female friends and the straight guys that so obviously didn't want to be there watching this movie. And who knows what their little lady promised them for taking them. Sometimes fellas you have to take one for the team. What I did like is that the guys seemed to be very affectionate towards their gals after the movie was over with. It wasn't the gross hands all over them sort of thing, just the holding hands and gentlemen way of letting others know that she is off limits.

The movie takes place in Baltimore, MD. I wasn't all that impressed with the shots (or lack there of) that were taking of B'More. I expected "More" lol. There is an all star cast. I am not going to name all of them if you want to know, just look at the top of this post at the first picture and it has all the names listed. I will mention a few I was impressed with though. I was happy to see Wilson Cruz (mostly known in "The Community" as Dr. Jenito in the Noah's Arc series) had a small but noticeable role in the movie. He and about two other guys act as Drew Barrymore's co-workers and friends. I think it is so interesting that Drew is an advertising rep for the Baltimore gay newspaper called "Blade". The real paper is called "Baltimore Gay Life".

There are so many different parts that I think a lot of people can relate to in this movie. The star is Ginnifer Goodwin from HBO's "Big Love" fame. She does a pretty decent job considering that she is in a movie with all of these more famous actors. Her Character name is GiGi and she needs to get a clue. She continues to throw herself out there to get rejected and it just seems like she wants more rejections. You actually feel sorry for her at some points in the movie. She becomes friends with Justin Long's character and asks him advice about men's different lines and games she thinks we play. I must say the more movies I see with Justin Long in them, the more of a fan I am becoming of his. He had the funniest lines and scenes in "Zach and Miri Make a Porno". And he is cute in this role and film as well. The Jennifers (Aniston and Connolly) are great like usual. I also realized how much of a fan I am of Jennifer Connolly's. She was great in this movie (like all her movies) and she had the most dramatic scenes to play. She is married to the Ultra HOT Bradley Cooper in the movie. Mr Favorite line in the movie "He has an ass so hot that it makes me want to dry hump!" is referenced to Bradley's character. Scarlett Johansson is in this film too. I have really never understood all the hype about her. I guess you have to be straight to see it. She does actually look pretty great in this movie and I didn't realize that she is so curvy. It works well for her.

The hottest couple in the movie is definitely Jennifer Aniston and my Husband...I mean Ben Affleck. Now those of you that know me know that I have such a HUGE crush on Ben Affleck. I still remember the day I came back from Hong Kong and found out that he had started dating Jennifer Lopez while I was over seas. I was so pissed!! But of course I forgave him because that is what you do when you are in love! And even though most of the movies he has starred in have been terrible I still go and see them all...that is called real love and support people...lol...His character doesn't believe in marriage. He has been seriously dating Jenn's character for 7 years without a marriage proposal. How do you feel about that? I will say that him and Jenn's last scene together had me a little teary eyed. Probably because I was pretending that what he was saying to Jennifer he was saying to me. Yes, chick flicks bring out the girl in me (I am not ashamed to admit that...LOL)! If you love a good romantic film I would definitely recommend that you go see this movie. If you love a good film to go see with your friends so you will have something to talk about before, during and after the movie...GO SEE THIS MOVIE. I know I would of had a BLAST seeing this with some friends.

~Verdict~

Two snaps UP and a CALL ME (make phone call hand signal)!

Push

Hey Kids!

I just saw "Push" a new movie that is definitely for the x-men fan crowd. It stars the hot Chris Evans and deliciously sexy Djimon Hounson and little Dakota Fanning, who is growing up on us. Now I don't know about you but I love movies like this. I am all for supernatural type films. When I first saw the trailer for this I was so excited to see it. Unfortunately it was a little bit of a let down. I walked away from the movie thinking "that could have been way better then what it was".

The setting of the film takes place in one of my favorite cities...Hong Kong. The shots of the city are wonderful. You might as well call Hong Kong one of the stars of the movie. Hong Kong, I miss it so much. It is such a wonderful place. This movie reminded me of just how much I miss being there. I need to plan a return trip soon to visit my foreign home.

The acting was OK. Little Dakota is starting to come into her own. I mean she had like 100 movies come out in the past two years. Like Caroline from weseemovies.com said "I wish she would give me like 7% of her money". And FYI little Dakota is now in High School and a public school at that. She is a cheerleader for the school. Where she finds the time to make all those movies, cheer and just be a high school kid is beyond me. But hey at least she is trying to have some kind of normalcy in her life. I mean let's face it, she will be famous for the rest of her life. Even if she doesn't make another movie. Chris Evans, who is one of my favorite actors (I have been a fan ever since I saw him in Not Another Teen Movie in his whip cream sundae suit. And he is even hotter in the Fantastic Four movies), does a decent job as Nick the star of the movie. He and Dakota's characters are second generation special skilled humans. Chris is called a mover, he basically has telekinetic powers. Dakota is called a Watcher, she can see the future. They are trying to rescue this girl (who turns out to be Nick's love interest) and get a case that has some drug that enhances powers. They are being chased by Djimon Hounson's character who is a Pusher, he has telepathic powers. Now if you have seen Djimon in Amistad you know that he can "Push" me anytime!
He is the head in some government agency, called the Division (it is always our government that is behind something). He is accompanied or basically protected by Victor (Neil Jackson) who is a mover and in my opinion the only bad ass in the entire movie. I mean the man was stopping bullets with his power and throwing people at the same time! They have other abilities introduced in the movie. Like wipers, they can erase your memories. Screamers, they can burst your blood vessels and scatter stuff by yelling, YES THEY GOT ON MY LAST NERVES IN THE MOVIE. There are sniffers, who have enhanced tracking powers. Stitches, who are healers. And Shifters, they can transform the appearance of things. The incredibly handsome Cliff Curtis plays a shifter in the movie. I just kept thinking about the fun we would have if his character was real.

This movie reminded me of the first X-Men movie. I wanted so much to happen in the film that didn't. Like X-Men, it was introducing the characters and not allowing them to show their full potential, so that the sequel would be more appealing. I didn't really care for the first X-Men movie. Yeah I went and fought someone for free passes to see the screening. Yes during the screening they gave out t-shirts and I almost fall from the top row trying to catch a shirt (yes I got my shirt and still wear it to bed sometimes). But that is what I will do for a franchise that I absolutely love and have learned so much from (I hate to think of the depths I would sink to or the things I would do for the Harry Potter franchise). Push had some action scenes and did an OK job of introducing characters into the story line. But that seems like that is the only thing it was concerned about. The movie was very slow and drawn out and I think it could of cut probably 20 minutes of it to make it a lot better. Another similarity this film has to X-men is that it will probably have a kick ass sequel. The difference is that X-Men II:X-Men United was definitely going to happen because critics and most fans loved the first film. Push has not seem the same generosity from the critics. They have actually been tearing it up. But as we all know the box office is what determines sequels. I do hope they make one just so that I can see this movie reach its potential. Am I going to advise you to see this film? No not at all. Wait til it comes out on DVD! But if you like this type of genre then by all means go and support it.

~Verdict~

Two Snaps Down and a Congratulations to Djimon and Kimora Lee on expecting their first child together!

HATED IT!

New in Town

HEY KIDS!!!

This review will be very short and to the point. This movie sucked ass! I was so disappointed. I actually like a good, city girl trying to make it out in the middle of nowhere movie. This was very disappointing. It stars Renee Zellweger as the lead who is some big executive and gets a chance to get promoted by improving things up in Minnesota! Renee had cute shoes and a fierce bob (you all know I love a good bob) but that is it. She looked weird and uncomfortable at times. The other star in the movie and the best part of the movie is Harry Connick, Jr. (Dr. Leo Markus from Will and Grace).

Harry played the role of a firemen who also happens to be a union worker. He wears a rough looking beard the majority of the movie but it still works for him (in my opinion). He of course plays his part well. However, Renee and Him have no chemistry through out this movie. It is so sad!

Lastly what seemed to bother me the most is that Renee was not tough and sassy enough for the role she was playing. She was suppose to be someone like Miranda (Meryl Streep's character in Devil wears prada) going to the middle of nowhere and turning things around. And she fails miserably. Do not waste your time or money on this film. Don't even rent it!

~Verdict~

(This doesn't deserve the energy it would take for me to snap down)

HATED IT!!!

The Uninvited

HEY KIDS!

"I LOVE YOU AND I HAVE A CONDOM." That is the first line in the movie. And just like that line this movie was A HOT MESS!

I must admit, I was NOT AT ALL interested in seeing this movie. The only reason I went to see it was to satisfy my curiosity about the incredible surprise ending. I mean every where I turned I was hearing about this ending. So I had to go and check it out for myself.

This film stars Elizabeth Banks (Role Models, W. and Zach and Miri Make a Porno) as the "evil" new girlfriend. Emily Browning (Violet in Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events) as the main character of the movie (in other words her big break), Arielle Kebbel (John Tucker Must Die, American Pie's Band Camp, Soul Plane) as big sister Alex, and Oscar nominated actor David Strathairn (Good Night and Good Luck) stars as Stephen the father who is grieving the loss of his sick wife by fondling a much younger women (who also happened to be his wife's personal nurse before she died) I know what you are thinking and I have no idea why he is in this movie either.

The movie takes place in a beautiful and picturesque town in Maine. The lake house alone that the majority of the movie takes place in is absolutely gorgeous. And the scenery and shots of the lake community is nothing short of Breathtaking!

Of course this is suppose to be scary, suspense filled and it attempts to be. But it fails miserably. The acting was decent but that is really all of that I have to say about this movie. I would not recommend going to pay to see this movie. Wait til it comes out on DVD if you are really that interested in knowing what happens at the end (and it is a definite shocker, I was NOT READY!). But once you have seen all the movies that this tries to live up to you have seen them all.

~Verdict~

Two snaps DOWN and a NO MA'AM for the ending!

HATED IT!!!!

Taken

HEY KIDS!

Ok I know it has been awhile since my last post. To make up for it I am going to give you all (I think I am up to 2 faithful readers now...haha) three reviews. The first one is "Taken" Now this stars Liam Neeson, you might remember him from his most recent pictures such as Batman Begins, Kinsey (if you haven't seen this movie RENT IT!) and as the voice of Aslan in the Chronicle of Narina movies.

Most of you are probably wondering how does he do as the bad ass of the movie? Well he actually does a good job. He had me afraid of him. The best part was that he plays one of those special forces guys that aren't about a bunch of threats and promises. If he says he is gonna do something, HE DOES IT! At the end of the movie I was thinking to myself "Don't F@#$ with Liam!" And I am not afraid to say that at 56 he had me a little turned on as well.

The movie also stars Famke Janssen (Jean from the X-Men movies), she has a relatively small role compared to Liam (but it doesn't matter because she has X-Men money!). And the daughter he is trying so desperately to save is played by Maggie Grace, who you may or may not remember from that TERRIBLE movie "THE FOG". The only good thing about that movie was Tom Welling, but I digress. She does a decent job playing spoiled little rich girl who is estranged from her father because of the demands from his previous job. She is now rich because her mother (Famke Janssen) married some rich guy played by Xander Berkeley. So of course she shows more affection towards him because he is who she has grown up with. Liam decides to quick his government job so that he can spend more time with his daughter. And then the dumb child goes and gets herself kidnap...Trying to be grown!!!

I would highly recommend this movie if you are in the mood to see a good mild action flick. It isn't that long (1hr 33mins.) and flows well enough. If you enjoy Liam Neeson and would like to see him in a kick ass role, than this is the movie for you! The setting takes place mainly in Paris, which of course looks beautiful. It also has a very good message in it...Don't talk to strangers, no matter how CUTE they are!! Once you see the movie you will know why I said that!

~ Verdict~

Two snaps up and a Voulez Vous Coucher avec moi ce soir

Liked IT!
